The Junior Visiting Researcher must have a background (academic or applied) in women’s issues/rights covering the global North and South, good research and communication skills and excellent English, including for the purposes of editing and report writing. The post is based in Budapest at Central European University and has the following responsibilities:

  •  A mapping exercise to survey the global diversity of feminist and women’s organizations and of think tanks, agencies and political parties working on women’s issues that the drug policy reform community needs to reach out to in order to advance its agenda. The mapping will link in with projects such as AWIDs feminist cartography;
  •  Commissioning, editing and dissemination of a series of policy briefs on women and girls in the illegal drug trade and the impacts of both the drug trade and counter narcotics enforcement on women and girls;
  •  Developing a syllabus that advances teaching, research and capacity building around women and drug policy and technical aspects of gender sensitivity and gender mainstreaming in policy design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation and which can be modified to ensure high relevance in different geographical and policy contexts;
  •  Organizational support to GPA’s executive course on gendered impacts of drugs policy (June 2018, Budapest) and for a regional policy workshop (November 2018, Accra).
