The Department of Network and Data Science of Central European University (CEU) invites applications for two full-time Assistant Professor positions in the area of Network Science.

The Department of Network and Data Science was established as an interdisciplinary unit, integrating natural science and social science approaches.

Qualifications:

We expect applications from scholars with a PhD in Physics, Computer Science or Mathematics, who have an excellent publication record in network science, with focus on data-based analysis and modelling of large networks. The candidates should have strong motivation for interdisciplinary research and be interested in the mathematical foundations of network science. The research work of the new assistant professors will be part of a large EU project lead by Prof. A.-L. Barabási and they will have the opportunity to collaborate with the mathematicians at Renyi Institute Budapest and Charles University in Prague. The normal teaching load at CEU is 12 taught credits (where one credit equals 12x50 minutes of classroom teaching per academic year. For the period of the project, their teaching load will be reduced from 12 to 6 credits per year. Capability of high-quality teaching is assumed. The initial contract is for 4 years. According to the CEU regulations there is a review of reappointment after the 4th year.
