The IT Department at Central European University invites applications for a Student Systems Support position. This is a great opportunity for talented professionals to join an international organization that is currently undergoing major transformation, replacing its Student Information System.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support and guidance for users of the legacy Student Information System;
  • Perform regular maintenance tasks of the database;
  • Review source code, understand business logic;
  • Implement minor modifications/changes to code, database when needed;
  • Create reports and data exports from database; and
  • Assist with the transition, development and implementation of the new system.

 Qualifications:

  • A higher education certificate in IT is preferred

 Desired skills and qualifications:

  • Strong written and spoken English ability;
  • Basic ANSI SQL knowledge, mainly for database querying is needed;
  • Oracle specific SQL experience is desired (database management, packages, scheduled jobs, tablespaces, XML, LOB, PL/SQL for db-stored business logic);
  • Proven experience with Java 7, Java 1.1, HTML 4, CSS3 is essential;
  • Must demonstrate the ability to manage their workload and deliver against set deadlines;
  • Must be a proactive solution-seeker;
  • Must communicate effectively with both end-users and colleagues in technical and non-technical roles; and
  • Must work efficiently in a team environment.
