CEU seeks a full-time Research & Data Management Officer to join its Development Office in Budapest, Hungary. The incumbent will be responsible for managing prospect research and ensuring the integrity of donor records as well as overall data management for the Development Office.

The Development Office

CEU’s Development Office (DEVO) is responsible for securing philanthropic support and developing strategic partnerships to help sustain the University and ensure that CEU has the financial resources needed to continue to innovate through its graduate education, research, and community engagement programs. This support comes primarily from foundations, corporations, and individuals, complementing funding and revenues from a variety of other sources. The Development team works with current and potential donors to identify mutual interests, support investments across the University, and demonstrate the impact of their contributions. DEVO also engages potential donors and friends of the University through an array of cultivation and stewardship activities, including recognition programs, special events, and volunteer opportunities. The Research and Data Management Officer will work closely with the VP for Development, the Director of Philanthropy and Strategic Partnerships, the development team and partners across the university to enhance CEU’s pipeline of prospective supporters and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all prospect and donor records. The Officer also supervises DEVO’s student research assistants.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

 ·         Prospect Identification and Research: The incumbent is responsible for the overall coordination and production of information on prospects and donors to the University in support of CEU’s strategic goals.

-    Develop and implement an effective prospect identification and research strategy

-    Build DEVO’s portfolio of prospect and donor profiles

-    Manage CEU’s pipeline of prospects

-    Manage research requests and supervise and train student research assistants

-    Lead the team’s compliance with international data protection regulations, keeping abreast of best practice

-    Regularly evaluate and improve upon systems once implemented and provide input into the budget planning and monitoring process

 ·         Data Management: Incumbent will provide day-to-day oversight of all prospect and donor records, ensuring accuracy and integrity of development records in CEU’s Raiser’s Edge database. Additionally, incumbent will oversee relevant mailing lists and supervise mailing management.

-    Oversee Raiser's Edge database management and utilization by all users, including units outside of DEVO utilizing the database

o  Maintain updated standards guide with consistent protocols for database use and data entry

o  Conduct training for DEVO staff and research assistants to ensure data quality control and accuracy 

o  Manage data entry and data management efforts and oversee filing procedures 

-    Provide analytics needed to track team effectiveness and ROI, including reports, dashboards and queries for internal and external audiences as needed

-    Oversee maintenance of mailing and event lists and support development of institutional mailing list

-    Manage database subscriptions and annually evaluate available tools

 Professional Qualifications and Experience:

·         University degree at a BA level or higher 

·         At least 3 years of experience in prospect research and/or database management is preferred

·         Fundraising experience, especially in a higher education setting, is preferred

·         Experience managing direct reports is preferred

 Professional Skills and Knowledge:

·         Highly resourceful with excellent project management and organizational skills

·         Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills in English (Hungarian also a plus)

·         Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge and Mailchimp or similar database and mailing tools

·         Skilled in all Microsoft Office applications

·         Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle highly sensitive information in line with the American Prospect Research Association’s guidelines for ethical collection and use of information and international regulations

·         Skilled in reading and interpreting a variety of financial, technical, and trade documents

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
