Duties and responsibilities:

Coordination of the CEU-wide Internship Support Program

CEU aims to create an Internship Support Program to provide support to students at the MA and PhD levels who choose to pursue internships in order to gain practical experience relevant to their studies and to their long-term professional development goals. The staff member will be hired at the Coordinator or Assistant level, depending on level of experience. The new staff member will:

Program Development Tasks

  • Establish CEU-wide internship program starting with 2017-2018 A/Y pilot;
  • Establish and gather evaluation criteria for CEU internship program and produce regular reports and updates for audiences including university leadership, academic programs, and wider CEU community;
  • Support and contribute to ongoing careers office liaison efforts with CEU academic departments, including promotion of the internship program, business intelligence gathering about program-related internship efforts, and needs’ assessment;
  • Support careers office liaison efforts and partnerships with other CEU administrative units dealing with internships;
  • Coordinate student communication efforts, including internship program deadlines and procedures;
  • Provide individual assistance to students as necessary, including advice on required documentation and/or evaluation criteria, as well as engaging with internship host organizations;
  • Serve as point-person within the CEU Careers team on internship-related information, responsible for proactive research and best-practice information gathering;
  • Serve as an integral member of the Careers team, collaborating with other careers office staff on events and activities throughout the year.

 

Administrative Tasks

  •  Oversee CEU’s annual internship budget, establishing funding guidelines and mechanisms based on existing best practices at CEU;
  • Support and coordinate the work of an (to be set up) Internship Support Committee to assist in the allocation of internship funds;
  • Create internship program documentation (e.g. internship agreements, financial application forms, intern evaluation forms, internship assessment forms);
  • Gather and systematically organize documentation related to the internship program, including internship fund applications and documents required for the fund disbursement process, working closely with other CEU administrative units as necessary;
  • Ensure that information regarding internship hosts and potential hosts is recorded in the career office’s CRM system in a timely fashion;
  • Collect and present information regarding internship opportunities to CEU students via the CEU Careers web page and CEU’s careers platform, career>next.

 Depending on experience and the evolution of the program, the new staff member, under leadership of Director of Career Services, may also:

  • Conduct career consultations, providing internship-search advice to students within CEU’s career advising framework;
  • Assist with external partnership outreach efforts, including conducting research to identify potential internship hosts and liaising with them regarding possible collaboration;
  • Assess the internship market specific to particular academic/professional fields and/or doctoral students, working in close collaboration with CEU’s PhD careers advisor.

 Qualifications and skills:

 Mandatory

  •  University degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s)
  • Demonstrated project management skills and experience (e.g. managing data, working with a budget)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluent English language skills (written and oral)
  • IT familiarity: office applications, web editing, databases & professional media
  • Ability to organize and disseminate information, tailoring as necessary to diverse target groups
  • Comfort working in a highly international and diverse environment

 Assets:

  •  Tutoring/counseling experience, ideally career or academic advising in an international higher education or non-profit organization
  • Knowledge of Hungarian
  • Work experience in the higher education or recruitment field

Compensation 

We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The initial contract is for 1 year with the possibility of renewal.
