The Career Services Office at Central European University invites applications for the position of Coordinator.

Duties and responsibilities:

CEU and the CEU Career Services Office

CEU Career Services Office plays a leading role in institutional efforts to ensure that the University’s graduates are prepared to transform their CEU experience into meaningful professional engagement. CEU Career Services Office works directly with students and alumni, offering guidance, support, and information to help them develop and pursue personal visions for impact and success all over the world. The Office also works with current and potential employer partners to develop awareness of the value of a CEU education and to create opportunities for clients. The new staff member will have the following duties in the following areas:

Student and Alumni Career Education and Advising

    • Conduct one-on-one career advising sessions with CEU students and alumni—topics covered include self-assessment, career orientation, career research, the crafting of tailored CVs/resumes and cover letters, interview preparation, salary negotiations, and decision-making.
    • Engage directly with specific student populations via email and other outreach to promote CEU Career Services Office initiatives
    • Conduct research to identify job, internship, and fellowship opportunities of relevance to CEU students and alumni and share this information via CEU’s careers platform, career>next.
    • Contribute to external partnership / employer relations activities by gathering information about employers of potential relevance to the CEU community; meet with current and potential employer partners as necessary.
    • Develop and implement career education sessions for CEU students and alumni, in line with the CEU Career Services Office approach.
    • Organize in-person and/or virtual career education and/or employer events of potential interest to CEU students and alumni.
    • Contribute conscientiously to CEU Career Services Office efforts to track student engagement with the office.
    • Serve as an integral member of the Career Services Office team, collaborating with other careers Office staff on events and activities throughout the year.

Functional Areas of Responsibility

All members of the CEU Career Services Office team take responsibility for specific programs/projects of vital importance to the functioning of the office. The Coordinator will be assigned to programs/projects based on his/her experience and skills; a list of potential programs/projects is provided here.

    • Impact measurement and reporting – developing and implementing mechanisms for tracking and reporting on student and alumni engagement with the office.
    • First destination survey – developing and implementing the annual graduate first destination survey and creating tailored reports for specific internal and external audiences based on the information gathered.
    • Reporting on alumni career paths – develop and implement mechanisms for gathering information regarding alumni career paths, input it into the university’s alumni database, and create reports based on this information.
    • Careers education – develop and oversee implementation of career development events such as  of career development events offered by CEU Career Services Office team members and open to the CEU student community.
    • Oversee student volunteers – manage schedules of students volunteering with the office on specific projects and initiatives.

Qualifications and skills:

Mandatory

    • University degree (Bachelor’s/Master’s)
    • Tutoring/counseling experience, ideally career or academic advising in an international higher education or non-profit organization
    • Demonstrated project management skills and experience
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Fluent English language skills (written and oral)
    • IT familiarity: office applications, web editing, and databases
    • Ability to organize and disseminate information, tailoring as necessary to diverse target groups
    • Comfort working in a highly international and diverse environment

Assets:

    • Excellent knowledge of Excel and other data management tools
    • Work experience in the field of higher education or in recruitment
    • Work experience in a multi-cultural environment
    • Training/teaching experience and/or certification

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. This is a full time position for a fixed term of one year with the possibility of renewal (maternity leave replacement).
