The Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for an Administrative Assistant (MESPOM) position. The MESPOM program began in 2005/2006 in cooperation with three other leading European universities - Lund University (Sweden), the University of Manchester (UK) and the University of the Aegean (Greece). MESPOM has been selected and funded as an Erasmus Mundus course by the European Commission. The successful candidate will work in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy, Central European University supporting implementation of the Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree (EMJMD) MESPOM (Masters Program in Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management), which CEU implements in partnership with five other universities and close to 20 Associate Partners and which is supported by the European Commission.

Duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will support the MESPOM Administrative Coordinator in the operation of the MESPOM program as a priority. Typical tasks include:

  • promotion and recruitment activities
  • supporting the process of application and admission of students
  • organization of students’ mobility and internships
  • organization of meetings of MESPOM Consortium partners and other inter-university activities
  • organization of the final examination, graduation and award of joint degree documents
  • assistance with financial record-keeping and management
  • maintenance of the website and collection and analysis of statistics
  • reporting to the MESPOM Administrative Coordinator and to the MESPOM Consortium Coordinator
  • providing similar assistance to other programs of the Department assigned by the Head of the Department and MESPOM Consortium Coordinator to the extent required and permitted by capacity

Qualifications:

  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy, including experience with basic data analysis, social media and simple web design
  • Organizational skills and competencies (time management, document and information management)
  • Experience of working in international higher education or similar context is an advantage
  • Ability to assist with financial record keeping and management tasks
  • Bachelor’s or higher university degree

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal.
