Step-by-Step Checklist

 

If you come from a country outside the EU:

  • Send your original diploma, certificate of medical eligibility, passport copy, personal information to CEU HRO.
  • CEU applies for a work permit for you.
  • Apply for the residence visa (D3) with the work permit at the Hungarian embassy (your family members must apply for the so-called FAMILY UNITING type visa).
  • Register your address at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Immigration Office, Residence Department*.
  • The insurance card will only be issued after getting the address card. It is recommended to obtain travel insurance for the first few weeks of your residence in Hungary.

If you come from an EU-country:

  • You don’t need a work permit.
  • Apply for the EU registration card in Hungary, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Immigration Office, Residence Department*.
  • The authority mails you the address card to the registered address.
  • The insurance card will only be issued after getting the EU registration card and address card. It is recommend to obtain travel insurance or EU health card for the first few weeks of your residence in Hungary.
